Hi David, I’m currently enjoying the Developing SharePoint 2013 solutions with JavaScript series.
In the second module you have a section called “demo variables” and you show how to step through the page variables using a treeview type window in the IE developer tools.
I’m using IE11 in Win 8.1 and as you problably know, the dev tools have been given a complete facelift and I can’t find this same window. The nearest I get is to open a js file linked from the current page and see it in full bloat. No tool to view the var names/values.
Am I missing something or has this been removed?
    Thanks
    Jay

Looks like I was referring to the locals window which I have now since found, lost, found and lost again!
To get it I believe you have to have the js file open, be in the debug window and refresh the page so that the content is greyed out with a pause icon overlaid… I think.
Looks like I need to find a pluralsight course just to get around the new dev tools interface!

This has to be one of the most comprehensive resource libraries for anyone interested in knowing how JS works with SharePoint. I can highly recommend it to anyone interested in front end SharePoint development.

    Hi David,

Thanks for providing this information which I find very helpful. I’m a developer but have not done much with the SP 2013. I have built many successful custom SharePoint 2007 and 2010 applications using the solution development approach that leverages the object model… I find myself struggling on what type of Architecture to use with the new SP 2013 model. Questions I always ask myself

    – Should I use SharePoint to model my database even for complex designs (many to many relationship..) so that I can leverage the out the box features of SharePoint (Workflows, Lists Views, Search, etc…)
    – I never recommend InfoPath but should I reconsider this?
    – When I need total control over the UI for lists I usually build custom forms that are tied to the new, edit and display forms. Is there a better to do this?
    – It seems like its frowned upon if you build a traditional custom solution for SP 2013 but this where my comfort zone is because I do have full control to do what I need and I don’t want to spend the time to try alternative approaches that may not work in the long run. Am I wrong for this?

I would love to hear you thoughts on this as I’m sure others would too!

    Thanks!

David, where can I find the sample code for the first JavaScript and SharePoint course? PluralSight support said I needed to upgrade my account to access the exercises but I don’t think we’re talking about the same thing.

    Hi David,

Enjoying your Pluralsight courses on Developing SharePoint 2013 Solutions with JavaScript. How does one complete the Demo – Setting-up Testing Tools when using Visual Studio 2015. The tools are more recent with Visual Studio 2015 and the instruction here in Part 3 of the course does not work for me.

Would appreciate your assistance on how to set up a Java test environment when Visual Studio 2015 is the developing product.

    Thanks
    Kevin

David, in the first “Developing SharePoint 2013 Solutions with JavaScript” you mention when going through 3rd party libraries, the second part will cover some KnockoutJS examples with SharePoint in detail. However I’m having trouble finding this bit in course two. Does this bit exist?
